Geoff Snelgar

Geoff was a Co-Founder of Capricorn Ventures International together with the Enthoven family in 1994. He led both the strategic repositioning of the Hollard Group from 1993 to 2003 and the formation of what today is called the Yellowwoods Group, which was developed as the central platform for the wider Group's globally coordinated operations.

Today the Yellowwoods Group owns significant assets, including the global Nandos Restaurant chain and various other well-known international insurance entities in the UK and Europe, Australia and South Africa.

He founded Capricorn Capital Partners in South Africa in 2003 and successfully established Capricorn Capital Partners in London in 2008.

As of April 2015 Geoff has been acting as Non-Executive Chairman of Capricorn Capital Partners Group as he is taking on executive responsibility for developing further markets and management teams for Capricorn and the wider Yellowwoods Group outside the UK and South Africa, and as the London team has matured and achieved its own independence and momentum.

He will still be responsible for helping to develop Capricorn Capital Partner's investment strategy together with the London and Johannesburg Executives – mentoring the executive teams and managing key stakeholder and portfolio company relationships where appropriate.

Geoff is also a Non-Executive Director of Yellowwoods, and since 2008 he has acted as the Investment and Treasury Adviser for the Haven and Redsands Insurance Groups in Europe.

From 1993 to 2004 - as Deputy Chairman of the Hollard Insurance Group as well as Chair of the Investment and Treasury Committee of the Hollard Group in South Africa - he developed a clear understanding of Investment risk and yield strategy.

The success of his role is reflected in the significant growth of the Hollard Group balance sheet during this period, which included the formation and listing of two highly successful businesses in the late 1990’s – the Clientele Insurance Group and Baobab Solid Growth Limited - both of which grew to multi-billion Rand market capitalisation entities. As a result, and starting off a tiny base, the Hollard became the largest privately owned Insurance Group in South Africa.

Geoff is a qualified Chartered Accountant (South Africa) and holds a Higher Diploma in Tax Law from Witwatersrand University in Johannesburg.

Prior to Capricorn, Geoff was a senior partner in Deloitte South Africa, the Executive Chairman of Deloitte & Touche Management Consulting, a senior member of both the Board and Executive Committee of Deloitte & Touche South Africa, and in 1989/90 the South African representative of the Global Merger Integration task force for D&T International.
